positvestoriesfornegativetimes.JPG

Over the last two years, we have been working as Participation Associates with theatre company Wonder Fools on their exciting international participatory project, Positive Stories for Negative Times, in association with the Traverse Theatre.

Season 2 is all about coming together, embarking on new processes and changing the way we think about theatre for young people. Wonder Fools have commissioned some of the UK’s most exciting voices to create new work for those between the ages of 6 and 25. Artists include Bryony Kimmings, Douglas Maxwell, Hannah Lavery, Debris Stevenson, The PappyShow, Wonder Fools and Traverse Young Writer Ellen Bannerman. The plays are written specifically for the times we are living in and will be free to participating groups from September 2021 — July 2022.

Tay² | Perth Theatre | Autumn/Winter 2020

Tay2 logoupdate.jpg

In Autumn/Winter 2020, hidden route young company had a brilliant time collaborating with a group of young people from Perth Theatre on a new digital project Tay². During the project both groups met online, set each other creative tasks and created two brand new pieces of digital theatre which explored the idea of being ‘caught between the fall and the impact’ . What does this mean to us in 2020? When have we felt caught between the fall and the impact? How far is the fall? How deep is the impact? How long have we been falling?

The Coronavirus Time Capsule | Company Three | Spring/Summer 2020

A week-by-week response to the pandemic, through the eyes of teenagers everywhere.

We loved participating in The Coronavirus Time Capsule which was a new project led by Company Three in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

‘We are doing it because we think it is essential that we continue to offer the young people we work with support, connection and a space to be creative. Each week we will release a new film that captures the lives of our young people. Check out our YouTube channel to see all of our Time Capsule Videos.’

ELEVATE | Scottish Youth Theatre | Theatre Royal Dumfries | October 2019

In Our World It Never Rains

In our world it never rains. In the real world the ice caps are melting. In our world everyone is happy. In the real world not everyone is nice. In our world people aren't homeless. In the real world bad things happen. In our world nothing changes. In our world we are perfect. In our world you're never alone.

In October 2019, hidden route collaborated with Scottish Youth Theatre and Theatre Royal Dumfries on ELEVATE, a week-long free holiday programme for 14-18 year olds at Theatre Royal Dumfries. During the week hidden route worked alongside young artists to create In Our World It Never Rains, a site-responsive performance which drew inspiration from the local environment and the young people who live there.

‘hidden route created a high-quality piece of theatre with young people from Dumfries & Galloway that was engaging, vibrant and responded to the local town and heritage. We are delighted with the site-specific/promenade work that was created and the community that Gemma and Lisa formed with the young people.’ Scottish Youth Theatre
